This chisel is used to create and clean out dovetails. Due to the triangular cross-section, the blade easily fits the tight corners of the dovetails. The back of the blade is slightly hollowed to minimise friction - (as you would find with Japanese chisels), 

These dovetail chisel blades are made from highly alloyed Cr-Mn steel and heat- treated up to HRC 59.  The back of the blade is slightly hollowed.

The Ergonomic handle is made of hornbeam wood and is equipped with a brass ferrule, plus a metal striking ferrule.  Because of the triangular cross section, these chisels are ideal for cleaning out dovetails as they can fit into tight corners.
