Zetsaw VIII 265mm Folding Universal Kataba Saw

This is the largest of Zetsaw's premium folding saws.  Zetsaw, or Z-saw, manufactures 3 Kinds of Folding Saws:

  • Handy Utility H-200 – V Handy Carpentry
  • V Handy 200 Board
  • VIII 265 with a bi-angle adjustment feature.

These folding saws are essentials in every woolworker's arsenal!  Ideal for cutting cross laminated boards and timbers of various dimensions regardless of grain direction.  They are loved by builders and gardeners/bush workers alike.

Adjustable blade angle for better cutting performance

They have a solid heavy alloy spine and positive heavy duty locking mechanism which make them extremely effective cutting tools.  The handle can be locked in two different positions which makes for improved cutting performance and easier access into tricky spaces.

The Folding Universal Kataba Saw Blade

Like all Japanese saws, they cut on the pull stroke.  The sharp impulse hardened teeth provide an aggressive but fine cut.  They can be used for cross, rip and slant cutting.  They can even plunge cut and the tapered blade is especially suitable for confined spaces.

                                    Manufacturing: Impulse Hardening

A high voltage electricity is run down the tips of the tooth, increasing the degree of hardness to the level of 64.0 - 68.2 HRC  (maximum harness achievable on steel). This produces very hard teeth which stay sharper for longer.  Note, the process leaves the spine of the saw still flexible to prevent bending or buckling during use.

                                             Custom tooth patterns

Z-Saw makes saw blades with several different basic tooth patterns (e.g. rip / cross / universal) each of which is applied to different saw blades with subtle variations depending on the use of each individual saw.

The Zetsaw VIII265 Premium Folding Saw has universal tooth pattern, making it suitable for cross, rip and slant cutting.

                                            Replacement blades.

You can purchase the 265mm replacement but some Japanese You Tube channels suggest looking around for the replacement blades that will suit your purpose: for example, the Bamboo 270 if you are cutting bamboo.  Be sure to check the size of the blade so that it is small enough to still fold.
